Required ABI Data Collection File Name Modification

 

All 3100, 3700, and 3730 Capillary sequencers use the underscore as the field delimiter
for text and chromatogram files. dnaLIMS parses the file names with the underscore to
identify the Well Plate Coordinate. Please retain the underscore as the field delimiter.
Using underscores within sample and primer names throws off the parsing algorythm.
Do Not use the underscore in sample or primer names.


The 377 sequencer requires other modifications that are listed below.

Modifying ABI 377 Data Collection File Name Delimiter

Within the Run Folder, it is Required to use a Hyphen as the separation delimiter.
Use the Hyphen to separate the Lane Number AND the "Sample Name Primer Name" fields
of the sequence and trace files.

The default file delimiter is typically a large black dot.  Use the following procedure
to change the large black dot to a hyphen.



1.  Launch the ABI data collection application.

2.  Select New from the File... pull down menu.

3.  Select New Sequence Samples.

4.  Select Window Preferences.

5.  Select Default File Names.

6.  Within the Sample File text box, Change the large black dot to a hyphen.
Set the First drop box to: lane number Set the text box to: - Set the Second drop box to: sample name This will create file names with the following fields: LaneNumber-SampleName
